The Europe-wide competition promises to be an exciting evening at the festival! Selected dancers and choreographers who are at home on international stages will bring new trends in European dance to Erfurt. The candidates will perform solos, duos or trios in a time frame of 5 to 10 minutes for the audience and an expert jury. Prize money totaling €2,000 will be awarded. The audience of the competition evening will be offered a selection and variety of top-class performances that are able to create a point of contact between artists and audience through the power of their dancing energy. You can look forward to an energetic evening of artistic inspiration and choose your own favorite!

Sara Simeoni
Choreographer, Dancer, Performer
Sara Simeoni is a dancer, performer, choreographer and certified DanceAbility Teacher.
After completing her studies in Turin, Sara moved to Rome, where she won the best performer award at the Città di Rieti International Dance Competition in 1995, graduated from the National Dance Academy in Rome in 1996 and attended the Accademia Isola Danza in Venice under the artistic direction of Carolyn Carlson in 2002.
Her meeting with the choreographer Carolyn Carlson was a milestone in her artistic career. Since 2005 she has worked as a dancer in Carlson’s works such as Inanna, Synchronicity, Now, Crossroads to Synchronicity, Wind Woman and
The Tree (Fragments of Poetics on Fire).
In the field of performance art, Sara has collaborated with the art collective Anam Cara and the artistic duo VestAndPage, presenting works at the Venice International Performance Art Week in Venice.
These fruitful alchemies and experiences have guided her interest in delving into the subtle intersection between contemporary dance and performing art, becoming a fertile and creative territory that enriches and nourishes her personal artistic practice and research to this day.
Eldad Ben Sasson
Choreographer, Dancer, Teacher, Traveler
Eldad Ben Sasson, born in 1978, is an awarded artist , choreographer and dancer. Eldad is a graduate of the Bat Dor Dance School in Tel aviv. He danced at the Vertigo Dance Company and Batsheva Dance Company under the artistic director Ohad Naharin, where he danced to choreographies by Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Sharon Eyal, and others.
In 2007 Eldad began to establish himself as an independent choreographer and freelance dancer, collaborating with various artists from different disciplines, such as Alexandra Waierstall, Orjan Andersson, Michael Getman, Noa Dar, Shintaro Oue, Hillel Kogan, Jan Håfström, and Herold Robin, among others.
Throughout the years, Eldad has been creating numerous projects and choreographies around the world, and he is traveling as a guest performer in different projects.
He has been nomadic for over 15 years, traveling, creating producing art works and being a friend to his extended family around the world.
Ester Ambrosino
Ester Ambrosino, born in Sicily, is a dancer, choreographer and artistic director of Tanztheater Erfurt e.V., which she founded in 2007. After studying classical dance in Palermo and a subsequent engagement at the theater in Trieste (Italy), she completed a degree in stage dance at the renowned Folkwang University in Essen. This was followed in 1994-98 by engagements with the company “Folkwang Tanzstudio – FTS” under the direction of the legendary dancer and founder of the Tanztheater Pina Bausch, who died in 2010. Ester Ambrosino was a guest dancer in ‘Sacre du Printemps’ and ‘Tannhäuser’ at the Wuppertal Tanztheater. In 1998 she was a member of the Tanztheater Bremen with Susanne Linke. In 2001 she danced with the Swiss Urs Dietrich and in 2002 with Catherine Diverrès’ company.
Ester Ambrosino has been artistically influenced not least by her work with renowned choreographers, including Malou Airaudo, Libby Nye (“Limon Company”), Rodolfo Leoni, Stephan Brinkmann, Mark Sieczkarek, Daniel Goldin, Raffaella Giordano, Irene Hultmann and Henrietta Horn.
